Listings in italics are not definitive; while the overall content is solidly established (except for the studio sessions), track order may vary, and multiple takes are not noted. Soundtrack listing notes only musical content.

NOTE: This long-rumored project has proved a millennial disappointment. Despite a a string of reports that the set would include several previously unheard, complete line recordings from the 1966 world tour, it turns out to be no more than a massive, expensive compilation of previously circulating material, none of which has been particularly scarce or difficult to obtain; none of the material included is likely to feature any sonic upgrades. While the set is virtually comprehensive, omitting only a 2-minute Australian broadcast interview from April 1966 from among the year's circulating, it also apparently includes one disc of (mostly) 1965 studio sessions with the Hawks which circulate most commonly. The set is also rather inflated; even allowing for the need to maintain continuity of some recordings; the entire set would fit very comfortably on no more than 20 standard-length discs.

EDLIS: This CD consists solely of tracks previously available on the old vinyl bootleg single LP "GWW Sings The John Birch Society Blues." The order of tracks is altogether different, and two songs are omitted. At 40 minutes this is really just half a disc. It is sad to see random track selection rearing its ugly head on CD.

JOKERMAN

Boo! 004 1CD [T-418]

(Cologne, Germany); July 10, 1994

Tracklist: Jokerman, The Man In Me, All Along The Watchtower, I Don't Believe You, Tangled Up In Blue, I'll Be Your Baby Tonight, Love Minus Zero, Masters Of War, Boots Of Spanish Leather, God Knows, I Believe In You, Maggie's Farm

EDLIS: To be avoided. Incomplete. Quality is reported to be good but as if the microphone was stuffed in a plastic bag. Find the full concert on 2CD "Love Minus Zero" in excellent quality.

rmd: This one's generally a waste; it sounds as if the levels were set way, way too high. The vocals are extremely harsh. The performance is bland in delivery on top of the disastrous recording quality. Steer clear of this one.

JUST BECAUSE

LS 001/002 [T-572]

(1) Art Park (Lewiston, NY); August 16, 1994
(2) Roseland (New York, NY); October 19, 1994
(3) Roseland (New York, NY); October 20, 1994

Tracklist: (1) Jokerman, If Not For You, All Along The Watchtower, I Don't Believe You, Tangled Up In Blue , I'll Be Your Baby Tonight, Mama You Been On My Mind, Masters Of War, Hattie Carroll, God Knows, Man In The Long Black Coat, Maggie's Farm, Ballad Of A Thin Man, Girl Of The North Country
(2) You're A Big Girl Now, Shelter From The Storm
(3) Simple Twist Of Fate, Joey [incomplete]

DEEP: A soundboard recording from '94 in very good quality, with a smidgen more hiss than on some circulating tapes. Strong show with some excellent peformances. The bonus trax from Roseland are spirited and include the truly unforgettable version of "Shelter From The Storm." A worthwhile disk despite some glitches.

EDLIS: A faulty tape of a very good show, badly presented on CD. The sound is very good but marred by some kind of crackling that runs through most of the Art Park recording. Several more glitches have been added during the mastering for CD; it seems like the source tape has been cut into several portions, and then these portions have not been brought back together all that successfully. While the sound on the filler tracks is excellent, they have been cloned from
"New York City '94." The fan project "Lewiston, NY 16 August 1994," although still imperfect, is preferred.

JUST STEP INTO THE ARENA

unidentified label 2D

JUST THE GIRLS

Watchtower 007/8 [T-528]

(Berlin, Germany); June 13, 1984

Tracklist: Highway 61 Revisited, Jokerman, All Along The Watchtower, Just Like A Woman, Maggie's Farm, I and I, License To Kill, Tangled Up In Blue, Just My Imagination [Greg Sutton], It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding), It's All Over Now Baby Blue, Masters Of War, Ballad Of A Thin Man, Man Of Peace, Every Grain Of Sand, Like A Rolling Stone, Don't Think Twice, Girl From the North Country, Lonesome Death Of Hattie Carroll, Tombstone Blues (w/Carlos Santana), Blowin' In The Wind (w/Carlos Santana)

DEEP: Similar to other documents of the '84 tour: decent enough quality though not exceptional. It's clear and distinct vocally and instrumentally but a bit thin and tinny, though this can be fleshed out with a bit of the eq. A nice performance, but the '84 shows are all very similar so what's the point, methinks. You may consider picking this one up if you don't own any other '84 tour disks. You won't be disappointed. But, unforgivably, Watchtower dropped "It Ain't Me Babe" and left a Greg Sutton vocal in. Generic cover design.

CDG: An average quality audience recording. The show is nice, but does not stand out from 1984's run of very similar concerts.
