Notes on the Guide's Format (new)
Most Recent Update (March 3, 2001)
Welcome! The Guide now comes in two versions. The standard version covers commercial CD (and CDR)
releases, but includes only the highest-profile fan projects. The "unabridged" versions includes all
items listed in the standard version, plus many, many fan projects.
[A "fan project," to be listed in the Guide, is not simply a tape which also circulates on CDR. To be
listed, it must have a distinct identity -- almost always with identifiable packaging as well. For similar reasons,
commercial CDRs sold at auction sites without distinct titles or identifiable packaging are excluded.]
I have added these items to the Guide because they circulate more commonly than many older CDs, and
are often are in the same (or better) sound quality than many commercial discs. And an increasing number
of commercial discs are proving to be clones of fan projects, sold (at rather inflated prices) even
though the originals are being given away or traded freely.
If you have a scan that you don't see here, please send it along to me (if possible, as a thumbnail sized 8-12K).
The date index now should cover all the listed CDs; most listings are linked to the standard version of the Guide.
Your comments and suggestions are appreciated.
Please note that all images used on this site are for the purposes of review and comment, and therefore,
according to counsel, are within the "fair use" provisions of copyright law. And, as per the recent outcome
of Prince's lawsuit against a fan publication, this noncommercial project does not infringe on
the artist's intellectual property rights.
As many of the comments included here indicate, I do not support commercial bootlegging and
cannot provide assistance in obtaining commercial bootlegs. All of the material described in the Guide
can be obtained through noncommercial channels, through the sorts of activities that Bob Dylan,
like so many other artists, has been generous enough to tolerate.
I'd suggest not bookmarking internal pages in the Guide, and strongly recommend linking directly to this page. As the Guide evolves, its internal structure is occasionally reorganized.
Also, the number of hits to the main page may be a factor used by angelfire in determining whether the Guide will be
given extra storage space as it continues to grow.
